Island v6: The Internet Series Web-enables Island Software's powerful desktop productivity applications for UNIX workstations and PCs running XWindows.

New Capabilities in v6:

24-bit color display support for all Island Productivity Series products¾ 24-bit color display allows Island customers with 24-bit hardware to display richer graphics, beneficial especially for viewing graphics and presentations over an Intranet or the Web. Customers with 8-bit hardware are still supported with v6.0.

IslandWrite (includes IslandTable and IslandEquation)¾ Seamless access to all of Island's applications from a single location; Applix import, HTML import, Word 6 & 7 (supporting embedded graphics) import & export, FrameMaker import & export and many others; as well as HTML conversion, URL pointing and hyperlink embedding capabilities that are required for editing Web documents.

Island Draw & Paint¾ Raster graphics editing, graphics processing and polygon and irregular polygon capabilities. IslandPaint includes GIF import & export, GIF transparency creation and JPEG import & export¾ graphical capabilities required for integrating with the Web.

IslandPresents¾ Professional presentations can now be saved as GIFs for display on company Web Sites. IslandPresents also supports HTML export.

IslandCalc¾ Data storage and display (point-and-click) capabilities that hook to Oracle, Ingres and Informix RDBMSs in order to synchronize enterprise data with departmental spreadsheets and to perform SQL queries from the desktop.

IslandInTEXT¾ Content-based search & retrieval on documents and on the properties of blueprints and images; document summarization; and HTML conversion of single documents or entire textbases for posting on the Web.

IslandBuild¾ An FCS product in version 6.0, Build provides screen customization, decision support, dialog editing, debugging and API extensions so that technical professionals can develop the Island Productivity Series to meet the needs of enterprise-wide and Web-based systems.
