General Information
Interest!ALERT SiteNews Developer Program lets you easily display free
news headlines and summaries and stocks on your web site pages. It is a
complete point and click solution that takes about 2 minutes to set up and
will run immediately. Branded full news is available.
When you are ready to make a news page go to the
login page and login or register at the
registration page.
Branded and Partially Branded content.
Interest!ALERT offers both branded and partially branded content.
Branded content is displayed in your look and feel, powered from Interest!ALERT servers.
Partially branded content has headlines and summaries on your branded
pages that link out to popular magazines or web sites.
Whenever Interest!ALERT offers content that links
off your site we will clearly mark it and show you which parts display your
brand and which do not so you can decide what content to use.
Branding is a paid option.
Free Content
Interest!ALERT has free headlines and summaries which can be embedded on your site's pages.
Interest!ALERT will not provide content to sites it deems inappropriate.
Branded Sites, Free Sites and the Affiliate program.
Interest!ALERT allows qualified sites
to participate in an Affiliate Program which pays a commission on the ads
that display on branded pages or on Free Interest!ALERT pages, subject to the terms and conditions of the
Affilate Program. We suggest you get
started with the Developer Program and hook up news immediately.
Premium Content or Expanded News Services.
We have a broad set of additional services and programs available that
you can hook up or join at any time. Mail us at

Getting started
Registration is free. Fill in the one-page registration form and select a site UserID and Password.
Registering takes you into the Developer Center.
Developer Center
In the Developer Center, you create "pages" to embed into your web site. The "pages" are actually
news blocks that you select and design.
We provide a few default pages to get you started, but you can edit these or delete them and make your own.
You can select from a number of page styles, set the number of columns to
display, decide whether to display summaries and dates and set the number of results per topic.
You can edit the content, selecting news topics from a large range or creating a Stock Index.

Registration/Login problem
I registered but the system sent me to the login screen
After registering (or logging in), your browser must accept a single cookie. This ensures that only you can
access your account. If you fail to accept the cookie, the site will not recognize you as
an affiliate and you will be sent to the login page. Enable cookies
and login using the ID and password you selected at registration time.
To Enable cookies
In Internet Explorer, pull down the Tools menu, select Internet Options and
click on the Security tab. Click the Custom Level button and scroll down the popup
until you see Cookies. Under Allow cookies that are stored on your computer, click
on Enable. Click on the OK buttons (There are 2 separate ones).
In Netscape Navigator, pull down the Edit menu, select Preferences and click on
Advanced. Select Accept only cookies that get sent back to the originating server.

Registration/Login problem 2
I registered but nothing happened
This happens to a small number of people, mostly AOL and MSN users. It seems to be something to do with
a proxy server. Usually, logging in fixes the problem.

Account Maintenance
Where do I change my password and contact information?
First, log in to the Developer Center. Visit the
Edit Personal Details
page to edit your password and contact information. Your Login ID cannot be changed.
What if I forgot my password?
There is a link to the Forgotten Password page
on the login screen. Fill in the form and we will try to locate your account records. If that fails,
email us at sitenews@interestalert.com with an explanation of the problem.
Put News on My Site
How do I get News Headlines on my Site?
Just register at InterestALERT SiteNews, then go to the Developer Center,
choose the news you want and add the javascript code to your pages.
Integration/Customization
Can I embed news directly into my site?
To get news headlines and summaries to appear directly on your page, use the javascript code
from the Edit Your Pages page. The dynamic news block displays there
and updates each time the page is refreshed.
Alternatively, create a frame and link to your news using the link displayed on the Edit Your Pages page.
How do I set the font style for the news block?
Just enclose the javascript within font tags. You can't set the size, only the face.

Just create multiple SiteNews accounts.
Each SiteNews account supports multiple content pages.
