Minister Raitt Congratulates CN and Teamsters Canada on New Agreement

Minister Raitt Congratulates CN and Teamsters Canada on New Agreement

"I am very pleased that CN and Teamsters Canada have reached a negotiated agreement without interruption to services," said Minister Raitt. "Strong labour-management relations benefit our country's economic prosperity and the economic security of Canadians."

The Teamsters Canada Rail Conference represents approximately 1 800 locomotive engineers at CN. The new collective agreement, valid for a duration of three years, replaces the previous agreement that expired on December 31, 2011.

The Labour Program develops, administers and enforces workplace legislation and regulations, such as the Canada Labour Code, which cover industrial relations, health and safety, and employment standards. These laws apply to federally regulated workers and employers.
